Daimler Vans USA, LLC (DVUSA) is recalling certain 2025 Mercedes-Benz eSprinter vehicles due to the increased risk of pedestrian accidents<\/a> from insufficient warning sounds alerting the drivers of possible pedestrians in the vehicle’s path.<\/p>\n

DETAILS OF THE RECALL<\/h2>\n

In an NHTSA statement from DVUSA<\/a>, these vehicles fail to make sufficient pedestrian warning sounds when in reverse. In turn, it leads these vehicles to fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 141, “Minimum Sound Requirements for Hybrid and Electric Vehicles.<\/a>”<\/p>\n

Section 5.2 of the standard states that the minimum band-sum volume level while reversing must be 48 decibels. Any electric or hybrid vehicle that emits a reversing sound below the regulatorily required minimum volume while driving in reverse may fail to alert someone, increasing the risk of injury to pedestrians.<\/p>\n

Mercedes-Benz AG identified the development process deviation in April 2025 during its routine model year quality testing. Following a thorough evaluation of the issue\u2019s nature and root cause, the company determined that the software concern is limited to vehicles produced for the North American market.<\/p>\n

HOW IS THIS BEING ADDRESSED?<\/h2>\n

In the recall statement<\/a>, DVUSA states that there will be an update available to dealers for the affected vehicles, free of charge. Letters notifying owners of the safety risk are expected to be mailed on April 17, 2026. Another follow-up letter will be sent once the final remedy is available, expected in April 2026.<\/p>\n

Any owners of these vehicles may contact DVUSA customer service at 1-877-762-8267, recall number V3EAVASOU<\/strong>. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall are searchable on NHTSA.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n
