{"id":5778,"date":"2026-01-16T22:12:23","date_gmt":"2026-01-16T22:12:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.awjlaw.com\/?p=5778"},"modified":"2026-01-16T22:12:36","modified_gmt":"2026-01-16T22:12:36","slug":"volvo-recalls-over-400000-vehicles-due-to-review-camera-issues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.awjlaw.com\/blog\/volvo-recalls-over-400000-vehicles-due-to-review-camera-issues\/","title":{"rendered":"Volvo Recalls Over 400,000 Vehicles Due to Rearview Camera Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the <a href=\"https:\/\/static.nhtsa.gov\/odi\/rcl\/2025\/RCAK-25V908-9575.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>latest recall notice<\/u><\/a> from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Volvo Car USA has notified them of a rearview camera issue affecting over 400,000 vehicles spanning the 2021 to 2025 model years.<\/p>\n<h2>DETAILS OF THE NOTICE<\/h2>\n<p>This recall notice states that the rearview camera display image might not show properly when the car is in reverse, decreasing driver visibility and increasing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.awjlaw.com\/blog\/category\/car-accident\/\">risk of a crash<\/a>. This is causing vehicles to fail to meet the requirements of the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for &#8220;rear visibility.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>According to Volvo manufacturers, affected vehicles will show a warning message saying the \u201ccamera is temporarily not available.&#8221; Park assist, automatic braking, and cross traffic alerts should still function.<\/p>\n<p>This recall affects the following vehicles:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>2021-25 XC40 SUVs<\/li>\n<li>2022 V90 wagons<\/li>\n<li>2022-24 C40 Recharge electric SUVs<\/li>\n<li>2022-25 S90 sedans, V90 Cross Country wagons and XC60 SUVs<\/li>\n<li>2023-25 S60 sedans, V60 and V60 Cross Country wagons, and XC90 SUVs<\/li>\n<li>2025 EC40 and EX40 electric SUVs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>HOW CAN I RESOLVE THE ISSUE?<\/h2>\n<p>Software will be updated in person at an authorized dealer or an over-the-air update for the park module for free. Vehicles that were previously repaired for the issue under recall 25V282<em> will also need to have the new remedy performed<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Volvo will begin notifying affected vehicle owners via mail on Feb. 16. If your vehicle is experiencing a problem while you are driving in reverse, we recommend you <strong>do the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Stay calm.<\/li>\n<li>If you are able to, stop the vehicle immediately.<\/li>\n<li>Check your surroundings. Use both the side and top mirrors. Fully turn your head left and right to check your blind spots.<\/li>\n<li>Slowly guide your car into a designated parking spot or area out of direct traffic.<\/li>\n<li>Once you are stopped, put the car in park.<\/li>\n<li>Grab your vehicle&#8217;s manual to find any software reset information.<\/li>\n<li>If you or anyone else has been\u00a0<em>injured<\/em>\u00a0or property has been\u00a0<em>damaged<\/em>,\u00a0<strong>call 911<\/strong>.
