FORD EXPEDITION AND LINCOLN NAVIGATOR RECALL<\/h2>\n

Ford has recently issued recalls affecting nearly 274,000 vehicles. This issue encompasses a potential installation defect that can result in a brake fluid leak and\/or loss of braking function, putting many drivers and passengers at risk of an accident. This recall covers 223,315 Expeditions and 50,474 Lincoln-branded Navigator models, manufactured between the years 2022 and 2024<\/strong>. It is expected that as much as 1%<\/em> of these vehicles will have the defect.<\/p>\n

If you notice a red brake warning indicator lighting up on your dashboard, this may be a sign that there’s a leaking brake line. The leak is a result of the engine air cleaner outlet pipe potentially being in contact with the front brake lines. If your vehicle is affected by this recall, you may experience an increase in pedal travel, and more pressure will need to be applied to the brakes to stop.<\/p>\n

To remedy the situation, Ford will be inspecting the front brake line of the vehicles included in this recall and will replace the brake line or the air cleaner outlet pipe when necessary. All maintenance and repairs will be done free of charge.<\/p>\n

If your vehicle has been affected by this recall, you can expect to receive a letter in the mail between May 26 and May 30, <\/strong>where you can then contact an authorized Ford dealer to schedule an evaluation and repair. You can verify if your vehicle is affected but this recall and any past recalls by entering your VIN on Ford’s website<\/a> or the NHTSA site. For any questions directly, callers can reach Ford customer service at (866) 436-7332<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

WHAT DO I DO IF MY BRAKES RUN OUT OF FLUID?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

If your vehicle runs completely out of fluid, you risk the brakes failing. If this happens:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Pump your brake pedal to flash your brake lights and warn other drivers, or switch on your hazards.<\/li>\n
  2. Gradually engage your parking brake slowly to downshift your transmission into lower gears. Don’t do this too quickly, as you may skid out of control.\n
      \n
    1. If your parking brake does not work, shift into lower gears one at a time to slow the car down with the engine. If you have an automatic, removing your foot from the gas will allow you to downshift. Some cars have paddle shifters; pressing and releasing the ‘-‘ paddle will downshift.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n
    2. Once you are going at a 20 MPH speed or lower, pull onto the side of the road into the shoulder, grass, or dirt.<\/li>\n
    3. DO NOT<\/strong> turn off the car until it has come to a complete stop, this will disengage your power steering which will make it much harder to control.<\/li>\n
    4. Once the vehicle has come to a complete stop, place it in park with the emergency brake ON.<\/li>\n
    5. If you or anyone else has been injured<\/em> or property has been damaged<\/em>, call 911<\/strong>. If not, call a tow truck.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
