This year has been one for the books (we could use words like unprecedented and unimaginable\u2026 but we\u2019re sure you are all tired of hearing that as much as we are). As 2020 comes to an end and the new year begins, it\u2019s important to remember to be safe during your holiday travels and adventures. Whether you are going to a nice dinner, spending it with friends or traveling home from Christmas, keep safety in mind.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Did you know that the percentage of getting into an accident on New Years Eve increases because of the deadly combination of late night driving and celebrations with alcohol? Statistics from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.iihs.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Insurance Highway and Motor Safety<\/a> estimates that 71% of traffic fatalities that occur on New Years are the result of a blood alcohol content level of .015 or higher. Be mindful of this on the roads New Years and try to limit your travel if you can. If possible, plan your commutes outside of the times drunk drivers are traditionally on the roads. New Years Eve may traditionally include a big party, nice dinner\u2026 a celebration of sorts to say goodbye to the last year and ring in the new year. During a pandemic, our plans begin to look a little different. So how can you be safe while still celebrating the holidays? Here are a few safety tips to keep in mind as you make your plans:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Don&#8217;t drink and drive. Even if you&#8217;re just going down the street, the risk is too high and it only takes a second to jeopardize your life or the lives of others.<\/li><li>If you&#8217;re going to be around others, social distance and wear a mask.<\/li><li>If possible, limit gatherings to a smaller number of people and have them outdoors.<\/li><li>If you&#8217;ve been near anyone experiencing symptoms or who tested positive for COVID-19, stay home and don\u2019t travel.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Want to know more about safety and traveling statistics for New Years? Make sure to wear your mask, wash your hands, sanitize and social distance to keep yourself and those around you safe!<\/li><li>Got littles ones to keep up with? Have a movie night! Set up a projector in the backyard, roast marshmallows and decorate some cookies!
