The Rubber Manufacturers Association, or RMA, includes members representing \t about 80% of all tires that are shipped in the United States. As an additional \t safety step for consumers, the company recently launched a digital search \t engine specifically for tire recalls. Consumers can find recalls from \t 2000 until 2016 within the tool.<\/p>\n
Simply find the tire identification number, or TIN, on the sidewall of \t your vehicle\u2019s tires and input the number into the RMA recall search \t tool online. The tool also offers contact information to have recalled \t or defective tires replaced.<\/p>\n
RMA is also assisting the NHTSA in creating its own tire recall search tool.<\/p>\n
Tire safety is of utmost importance. Every vehicle operates because of \t tires, so maintaining this vehicle base is step one in vehicle safety. \t Not only should consumers be aware of existing tire recalls, but regular \t service should be performed on a vehicle\u2019s tires as well. Statistics \t show that 4\/5 drivers do not fully comprehend the process of checking \t tire pressure \u2013 and half of drivers depend on the tire pressure \t listed on the tire instead of within the driver\u2019s door post. Checking \t tire tread using the penny test is another important knowledge that all \t drivers should have. If your tires are worn or flat, navigating roadways \t becomes much more troubling \u2013 especially in adverse weather conditions.<\/p>\n
