If you find  \t yourself in the unfortunate situation in which you\u2019re seeking an  \t attorney for a wrongful death lawsuit on behalf of a loved one, it is  \t important to hire a knowledgeable and experienced Georgia wrongful death  \t lawyer to represent your best interests.<\/p>\n<p>In the state of Georgia, the measure of damages in wrongful death law is  \t known as the \u201cfull value of life\u201d. Specifically, statute 51-4-1  \t states \u201cthe full value of the life of the decedent, as shown by  \t the evidence\u201d must be observed from the point of view of the deceased  \t and decided by the \u201cenlightened conscience of a jury.\u201d This  \t \u201cfull value of life\u201d includes two parts:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Economic &#8211; including the present value of the loss of future earnings,  \t\t not withholding expense or tax deductions for the decedent. Factors such  \t\t as physical well-being, age, income, type and value of work performed,  \t\t and more are considered by jurors to determine the economic value of life  \t\t of the deceased. Once this has been calculated, this estimated economic  \t\t value of life is decreased to present-day cash value with calculated interest  \t\t of 5% annually.<\/li>\n<li>Noneconomic\/intangible \u2013 is not use contingent upon any one formula.  \t\t There is no specific method to determine your lost loved one\u2019s full  \t\t value of the life. Jurors are instructed to determine the value by using  \t\t their rational conscience, understanding and awareness of human relationships.  \t\t They may study practically all details and circumstances that affected  \t\t the subjective worth of a person\u2019s life. Relationships, family circumstances,  \t\t and living conditions may all be factors in determining the intangible  \t\t value of life. These noneconomic aspects can also be established by using  \t\t testimonies from friends and family.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Both economic and noneconomic aspects of the \u201cfull value of life\u201d  \t in Georgia wrongful death lawsuits can be determined by using life expectancy  \t tables if jurors so choose. In some states recoveries of losses underwent  \t by survivors are provided for (such as companionship, counsel, advice,  \t etc. from the deceased), but Georgia law does not offer those recovery  \t options.
