Second, 759,000 automobiles, including 423,000 Lexus automobiles manufactured from 2005 until 2010, were recalled because of fuel delivery pipe problems. These issues increase the risk of fire in those automobiles. The third largest recall affects more vehicles sold in Japan that may have fuel leaking issues. Thus far, none of the recalls have been known to cause crashes or injuries.<\/p>\n
Large automobile manufacturers oftentimes must pay fines and settlements for automobiles that caused dangerous conditions for consumers. Toyota paid $1.2 billion in fines earlier this year to settle a criminal investigation. The investigation involved unintended acceleration in over 10 million vehicles four years ago.<\/p>\n
